![]() ![]() And I indicated that SK would be inclined to reopen its lounge as and when demand justifies doing so. It’s only a couple of months ago that the Swissport lounge at T5 was opened again. ORD will almost certainly follow suit soon.I didn’t indicate that all the T5 lounges are dying to close. BA reopened their JFK lounge literally the day the country opened to vaccinated Americans. They're closed right now because the countries those airlines are based in are in lockdowns or have very heavy travel restrictions (or at least the case for BA until today). I'm also not sure where you get the idea that all the T5 lounges are dying to close. The big appeal of Centurion lounges is using them on domestic flights. Platinum cardholders who fly international frequently are the type to already have status and therefore lounge access. T5 is long haul international flights only and sees a tiny fraction of overall ORD traffic. ORD will almost certainly follow suit soon.Īmex would never open a lounge in T5. If the issue is wanting space at T1-T3 but not at T5, there is space that could be used for a lounge and/or restaurant development at the right price with the right operator for the space.Amex would never open a lounge in T5. Only the AF-KL and Swissport lounges at ORD T5 are open the other ORD T5 lounges are closed for at least now. ![]() And who knows what’s up with the Swissair ORD lounge - which is distinct from the open Swissport lounge. The AF-KL lounge may become a casualty of the mega terminal redevelopment at ORD. SK’s is closed as they don’t see the demand there to justify it opening and don’t know when that may happen. BA may not even want its lounge to remain there because of cost. BA and SK lounges at ORD T5 are not in operation. ![]()
